    Default wooden mast

I'm building a 16 foot lapstrake boat and the plans call for the mast to be constructed using oregon.
I'm finding it almost impossible to source this stuff so now I'm wondering what alternative wood I can use.

I would appreciate any comments as to which timbers anyone has used when they made their mast and spars.

    Cheers in advance

Bakes sawmill in Tasmania gets Oregon (douglas fir) from time to time.
I'm sure he has cut masts before.
