Hi All,

First off thanks for reading my post.

I have a slab that needs to be resurfaced. its fairly large 7 feet x 20 feet. I will not be pouring the surface as its in an awkward spot and I think an experience masonist? would do a much better job.

The concrete pad currently sits along a wood studded exterior wall. Im replacing this wall due to wood rot and mold, This is due most likely to moisture exchange between wood and concrete. I need some type of moisture proof gasket. I know of a gasket that is used for the bottom plate against concrete footings. Unfortunately this is not wide enough and wont cover the five inches of concrete which is next to the wall.

Ive went to the neighbouring home depot(Im in Canada) and asked them what options are available. So far, tar paper, that pink gasket(not wide enough) and using a styrofoam with a watertight membrane and an expansion gasket.

I was thinking about a roofing membrane. The thick black almost rubber like substance.

Please keep in mind that I live in Canada and hopefully I will have the same access to materials.

Thanks
