Is there a min ground clearance for a deck
Is there a min ground clearance from bearer to post,the deck im building at the mo have worked out that the posts are basically cut off at ground level then the bearer on top of the post.

in theory an absolute minimum of 150mm clearance to the underside of the bearer

You dont want the bearers to rot so make sure there is adequate drainage.

some of the posts in my deck are just off ground level to solve the problem of drainage and also as your other question of grass, i layed down sheets of plastic and filled the ground with blue metal this is what you can use to assist with drainage...

Use joist hangers off your bearers, to get extra clearance
