    Default Spotted gum decking

We're about to finally lay our spotted gum decking on an exposed deck. I have read Jimj's recommendations regarding preparing the deck for oiling (thank you!) and we will follow this. I have had mixed suggestions regarding the benefits of allowing the timber to 'weather' prior to oiling Vs getting the oil onto it straight away to reduce deterioration. Can anyone provide me with some advice here? It's lovely timber and we're hoping to give it the TLC it deserves!!

Depends how wet it is when you get it.... Not talking rained on wet but whether its partially air dried or fully air dry or kiln dried....
Some spotted gum deck is still wet and slimy off some suppliers.. This would need time to dry... if its air dried well or kiln dried then get straight into it
