Hi Rob, Sorry I haven't replied earlier, been a way with the cruising club. All the comments above are good. Your opptions are only limited to your imagination and dollars. 1 option to run winches when the main engine is shut done is to fit small dc power pac, which could keep an acumulator charged (this would allow enough flow and power for small winches only), however all electric winches may "wind" up cheaper and much easier to install. If buying a used boat with hydraulics I would advice getting an Expert to check the system out $$$$$. Re finding an expert, look for a local hydraulic company that has field service (ask the local pro fishermen who they use). Some of the "hose doctors" have good allround knowledge but most are just hose doctors so be carefull.

Thanks Ian.
The boat is set up with hydraulic capstan , prop pitch change , and net hauler all hydraulic and good working order.
The only one I can see needing real power would be the mainsail gaff.
The rest could be operated manually , as the main could too .
I know a few of the fisherman here , so I should be able to be pointed in the right direction.
Regards and thanks Rob J.

How did you guess !.
Yes , one of my ancestors was a Johansson or some such , who jumped ship as a 14yo during the gold rush , Anglocised his name , and set in business successfully , eventually.
That boat would do me just fine , set up to sail a bit.

Google Translate .
The amount of work that has gone in to this boat is incredible !.
Can't see me being allowed to flip 'couta on board though , I'd get keel hauled !.

You can put "couta scales" on anything.
You just have to be prepared to scrub them off.

Yes , you are right Paul .
But my experience is you get the scales on the soles of your boots , and walk them through the boat !.

NOOOOO. !
You never wear your boots below, they stay in the wheel house or on deck.
