Default David Payne 16' Canoe Stern Putt Putt with sail

    Hi,
Starting to research a potential new build and have been thinking about a sailing version of David Payne's 16' canoe stern putt putt, saw a photo on his website of "Latitude 27 S", built by Ian Primrose in Qld, which has got me interested. Before I contact David, does anyone have first hand knowledge of this design and/or this particular boat, performance under sail etc etc. or anything else that might be useful?
    Cheers

Looks an interesting project, , I have not built any of his designs , as they do not suit my needs .

motor performance would be around 6-8 Knots, sailing I do not know, .

If you do decide to build , OLDS engine works are still in operation in Maryborough QLD, and manufacturing engines.

    Cheers,

    Jeff

Thanks for the tip on OLDS engines, I had been thinking Chapman Pup but the beauty of this forum is that choices expand.

I mentioned this discussion to Ian Primrose at theTweed Regatta on the weekend.

He advised that the sail he sometimes carries is a steadying sail only and that the hull is not really condusive to dual purpose boat.

The smaller Yellowtail is a compromise boat. I'd suggest you talk with David Payne.
    Charter boat? What charter boat!?
