Fast kayak with some stability
I recently completed a strip built kayak designed to suit a particular need that I believed I had. I wanted a fairly fast kayak to paddle on my local lake and similar waterways.
I already had built a TK1, which was quite quick, but wanted just a little more speed, if possible. The problem was that I knew from experience that I am simply not good enough to paddle a competitive K1, so I designed a K1 with a bit of stability.
It was built from Paulownia and WRC left over from other kayak projects and finished up weighing about 10kg.
There is a bit more information about the kayak here.

And here.

As the first photo was taken, I was in the process of passing that K1 and that ski and they sat behind me for the next 9 or 10 km of the race, with the ski passing me right on the finish line.

You still produce beautiful crafts. It's pity your paddling skills are not at the same high standard but getting old is something you can't reverse. Your lucky it doesn't effect your wood working skill just your stamina.

Beautifull indeed! If I manage to build a kayak to this standard it will go into my lounge as a trophy.
Absolutely stunning!
