How does she paddle? Looks like quite a stable boat, but L:W ratio enough to track OK.

I have a couple of Matt's designs in my "must build" list...just need to get going on the current builds.

I have been a little hesitant to post too much of my builds here, mainly because my builds aren't up to the very high standards of some of the others that I have seen here. I am not a master woodworker or boat builder but I just love making a heap of sawdust.

I built this boat, mainly as a loaner, for when somebody wants to come paddling with us. and the lines of it just appeal to me.

It is allmost identical to the free version provided by Matt and in my humble opinion is way too nice to be offered for free. I posted this one, because it is a quick and easy build and very suitable for a first time builder.

It is about 4 metres long with a max beam of 700mm and its performance goes against everything I thought I knew about boat design. I would have expected it to be slow with little glide, but it is a superb little rec kayak to paddle. I Love it and so does my wife. She has put in an order for a laker of her own.

I guess, I must be a one man fan club of Matt. He is a real nice bloke, is fairdinkum in his work and great to do business with. Oh yeah, I reckon he designs real nice boats too.

There are other very good boat designers around (and quiet a few are here in Australia) I found Matt before I discovered any of the others and now I just can't imagine going to anybody else.

I don't know enough about photo re-sizing for this forum to put too many piccies up. I ca'nt get them small enough.

I really like Matt's (JEM Watercraft) kayaks and canoes (Matt is my friend in myspace - see my signature),
but I'm not kayaker/padler.
I considered to build his touring canoe and convert it for sailing canoe...

Whenever I prefer Boatmik's Beth for her "classic sharpie style" and for she is decked canoe.

I really Like many of Mr. Storers designs too, in particular, His lovely Eureka canoe is something special, I think. I would love to build it one day, just like I want to build one of the Payne kayaks, but Matt still has several boats that I want to have a crack at first. - and he just keeps coming up with more.

I like Matts build methods - and the way he sets out his drawings and build instructions. Really clear and simple to understand. (I need that) He was playing with a concept sailing canoe a little while ago that looked real nice on paper but I don't know if anyone has built it yet.

Another piccie, now that I am getting posting them pretty sussed. Laker weighs in at 15.3kgs.

Oooo! I didn't hear about it .
I'm interested in cartoppable sailing boat (sailing canoe!) for 1-2 persons - light and easy to build. Beth is for 1 person only.
