Any idea when she was built, overall dimensions etc?
Is the rego number any help in tracing her origins?

Got any pics in the cockpit and/or cabin?

He says around 1988, not sure how he can be that sure and not no the make.

The only dimension I have is the length......23ft

Daddles, no it's ply and timber construction and it's 600ks away, that's why I would like to find out a bit more before making the trip.

I understand your reluctance to rush in. It looks good in the photos, but what's it really like? You'll have to make sure it's been well ventilated when not in use. Sealed compartments that are permanently sealed are breeding grounds for rot. How well was it built, etc. But if those are recent pics and you actually like the look of the thing, organise to spend a day with her. At least a couple of hours on the water (with the owner so you can ask him questions and get a feel for the amount of BS he spouts) so you get to know know her. Then lunch alone to have a worry. Then a few hours being the most pedantic pain in the bum alive as you go over every inch of her.

Of course, you could behave like a normal human being and hand him the cash five minutes after first seeing her

The boat is an IBIS.

I found the following when I did a google search on Ibis trailer Sailer and it took me to the Ebay site where I take it you are looking.

23 ft Ibis class epoxy ply Trailer sailer built approx 1988
One self furling jib and one mainsail both in good condition
Front V-berth with porta potti underneath and two side lounges big enough to lay on
S/S sink with foot pump and S/S two burner metho stove
Fold out table and heaps of storage under bunks
Plenty of 12v lighting and radio cassette player
Wind-up centreboard which does not intrude into cabin area giving a clear walk way
Large self draining cockpit area with heaps of storage
Bow rail and rear boarding ladder etc etc...



I had heard of this class when it was first advertised in the magazines in the '80's but have not seen one before. Could be of Victorian origin because that is where I was at the time.

I go out to Jimboomba now and again so if you wanted someone to eyeball it in the flesh that could be arranged. I'm not a marine surveyor, merely a hack sometimes boat builder but I've had plenty of boats in the past and can tell the difference from what's been cared for and what has been neglected. Thanks Deefa, the owner (who bought it from a yard and hasn't used it much) told me he thought it might be an Ibis but wasn't sure. I was hoping someone might recognize it and know a bit about them.
