i think i mayyyyy have worked it out, the hb.hab is the verticle and horizontal measurment of where you put your point.

ok i think i have worked it out
But can you clear up what HB and HAB stand for? i hate acronyms...

good to see you worked it out. I have'nt had any prior experience either so the HAB/HB was a bit daunting until I actually started...

I dont think theres anything to buy from him even if you wanted to!

i jsut drew you a little diagram to explain.

    Height Above Baseline = y
    Half Breadth = x
I think he lists them in HAB/HB order whcih is the opposite of normal graphing which goes x/y. Just be aware of this, although if you get it wrong the shape of the cross section will let you know!

Ie HAB = how far up you got from your 'baseline' measurement. From memory the lowest keel point is just above 0. I dont know why it isnt 0 for simplicity, but it stiall all works. Might just be incase you actually set 0 as your strongback top, which I didnt at all. (in fact alot of mine has been built by eye once those original measurements were done)

HB = is how far across. He only gives one HB even though it is obviously reflected on the other side as well, becuase, well, its the same number just +/-.
The keel has no HB as it is on the centreline, as with the foredeck ridge.

I'm still thinking also about putting an external rub strip at least down the front of the keel. The original oregon beams I strated with came with aluminum angle brackets attached as wel las a strip of tough flexible plastic, which i'm going to reuse for floor supports (As per Yost) as well as potentially a rub strip.
I saw another site where the owner recommended forenad aft keel rubstrips as thats where his boats tended to wear, whcih makes sense really. not sure if the gunwhales would be necessary unless you wer efrequently docking or lashing to another kayak...

Makes sense, i didnt even think about setting heights on the strong back whoops hahaha

looks like i have a bit more to consider!

Im only putting external gunwales on for aesthetics (dont jump on me, i know some of the boaties would strap me for that) But also because i always tend to pull up against rocks and rockwalls and scrape the sides of my eureka but i'll only be putting a thin one on.

Also how long do you think it would take to build? (considering i have uni holidays coming up with alot of spare time)
