Thread: The one that got away

Way back when we lived in Mandurah there was a time me and my eldest Yazmynn would spend hours wandering along the shores of the Murray River just yarning laughing posing for each others cameras doing dopey father daughter things... and there was this one spot on the river at South Yunderup where we would stop and just look at this one particular sweet little river boat... she was wooden old and beautiful... we took many pics of each other standing on the small jetty next to her Ive even got one of me sitting in her

It was in fact a case of boat lust... but there was no way I could figure of tracking down her owner... so she and I would simply smile at each other happily

The passage of years moves forward some... fellow forumite TonyH sends me a message to check out a yahoo forum where a bloke in WA was giving away two old woodenboats for free as he was heading overseas and had to loose them... so I checked it out and thought you beauty! thinking only of being able to finally be able to get my hands on a solid woodenboat that I could bring back to life for me and the nippers... so I sent him a short message saying how my life had changed recently and how I thought such as he was offering would offer me and the nippers a chance for some smiles... no problems away it went

Now the thing with it is Ive never had anything to do with Yahoo... had simply joined to be able to read the message Tony had linked me to... and had thought that any reply would simply go to my usual email you know?

Then of course yesty of all days Melissa decided it was time for little Sarah to make an appearance so all hell broke loose for the entire day... so the small time I did spend on the net was to inform me mates of me new ubloodybeaut grandie!!...

THEN... tonight I get home organize meself and finally get a chance to sit here and check things out... and wouldnt you know it theres a message from me ol mate TonyH "Gidday Shane I noticed the bloke had left a note saying the boats have headed south did you get one?"... took a quick second check of the inbox and sent back "nah mate not a word from him guess someone else got em"

A few tics after I went and read the forum over there and thought mmmm I wonder... and started checking around for anything that even remotely resembled a mail thingy... and sure enough there was "mail" up in the top in tiny letters... mmm... so I clicked it and there yer go I GOT MAIL... a raft of them in fact and among them was one from the bloke with the boats!!

WHAHOOO!!... so quick as heck I opened it up "at this stage the Africa Queen is the only one left give me a ring on .... Ive got a trailer you can use to get her home and heres a photo"... so quicker than a pro droppin her nickers on race day I pick up the mobile and dial the number "Gidday Shane youve rung about the boat? Sorry mate but theyre both gone" "Well when you didnt ring yesty and the other bloke arrived and said he would take both I thought you didnt want her so they should be in Margret River by now sorry mate"

AAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! gawd strike me flamin roan I cant take a friggin trick lately!!!

Anyway isnt she just the ducks flamin knuts?

but still tis a shame cause I really fell for this wee boat... ah well heres hoping whoever got her REALLY treasures her and treats her right
