Can anyone help me with a query I have about an old pine foor? We renovated a 1970 brick veneer, and found tongue and groove pine boards under the carpets and tiles. The roof was left off, and the floor was unprotected for around 9 months (rain and heat). We then polished the boards, replacing broken boards with hardwood, but now the tongues have come away from the grooves, and there are gaps and cracks all over the place! We have been living with the cracks for about 8 months.Would the extreme temperatures and our neglect to cover the floor have caused this? Or could it be that the floor was never supposed to be polished and so the gaps and cracks would have been there anyway? And, what can I do to fix it?
