Thread: Help / Advice needed Timber floorboards

Hi all

I have just purchased a new property in Sydney, We ave arranged for a professional floor sanding and polishing dude to come out on monday to restore our floorboards

We only just settled on this property today, and i immediately starting ripping up the old carpet, However i was unaware the floorboards go further back in the house than we believed (we thought and was told it was concrete under some lino timber sheeting) however under the lino was what looks like Baltic pine floor boards (same as rest of the house)

I would really love to have these restored at the same time as the other half of the house, but they are in considerably worst condition than the floorboards the professional saw and quoted us on.

I will obviously try and get a hold of the guy coming on Monday, tomorrow however i had no luck today and am doubtful for the weekend.

What i would like to know is how do i know if the boards are to damaged to be refurbished?

And will this professional be able to replace/ fix broken boards?

Also the boards seem to be loose, how can i make them more sturdy?

I have found a place that sells second hand Baltic pine boards, but they are about 4mm thinner than the current ones, how can i prop them up to be level?

I have found a fair few large nails and small ones that are hammered down level so i can no get them out, will this be a problem?

Any help on this is greatly appreciated
