    Default Underfloor insulation

I am considering some form of under floor insulation to provide thermal and noise reduction benefits.

I was considering polyester batts (polyester because I will be handling the batts a lot and it is nicer to work with) in between the joists. I don't want to use wire or mesh to hold it in place as it can sag and bugs, vermin can get in. So, I was thinking of enclosing the area between the joists (ie boxing in the batts) using boards. Perhaps cement boards or treated pine. Any thoughts on this?

    thanks

    Default underfloor spray

    hi,

try find somebody to spray polyurethane foam directly underneath the floor boards (if access permits). that will do everything you need in one.

    cheers

I used fibreglass batts which was a ???? of a job in such a confined space.... Used blue packing tape stapled to the underside of the joists which worked well.

    Other options I considered:
    - perforated sarking stapled to the underside of the joists
    - Insulco cosyfloor polyester roll

    Default Foam

Has anyone used the "Foamex" or similar boards for underfloor insulation?

It sounds by far the easiest material to work with and doesn't need wire etc to support the boards. They are self supporting with a "spring" type of edge or can be secured using small plastic angle pieces nailed into the timber if needed.

Well that's what the manufacturer says anyway. Anyone used them?
