    Default 32mm adaptor

    Hi all,

This might sound a trivial question but I am having trouble finding what I want.
I am renovating my bathroom and remove the old sink. This sink had a 40mm waste and the new one has a 32mm waste. I can not find an converer, adaptor, whatever you want to call it to install the new sink
The new sink is of the type that sits on the bathroom bench.
    Any suggestion?
I went to bunnings but could not find what I wanted
    Thanks
    Eric

go to a real plumbing store eg tradelink etc .tell them or better still take along your problem and let them tell you what you require ,bunnings wouldnt know squat about the problems you have got yourself into ,but then again you will buy the chinese imported crap

If all else fails slide part of the new one into the old waste pipe and seal with duct tape.

I did this with the sink in my workshop 20 years ago and no problems.

Try Reese Plumbing. If it's available, they'll have it.
If at first you don't succeed, give something else a go. Life is far too short to waste time trying.

Very frustrating. Had the same challenge in my laundry room. All the standard "adaptors" leaked no matter what or where in the drain assembly you put them. Finally found a rubber reducer with metal hose bands on each end tightened with a screwdriver. That did the trick.

'but then again you will buy the chinese imported crap"

32mm wastes have been used for year in Europe (many old plumbing books refer to them as "continental") and often exceed the quality of those available in 40mm. I sell Chinese product in both 32mm and 40mm, some good, some bad.

I still have plumbers coming in or telling their customers to ask for only Caroma, 'cause they're the best. Funny that many haven't noticed the Caroma basins now sport 32mm wastes and overflows.Wonder where they're made?

    Cheers,

Have not had a chance to go to a real plumbing shop but will try.
I might have found a solution at bunnings while playing around with the different adaptors.
    But still frustrating.
You would expect that having 3 "standard" here 32mm,40mm and 50mm, you could easily find a 32mm to 40mm, 32mm to 50mm and vice versa.
    Nothing !

I've bought exactly that adapter from Reece a couple of months ago, cost all of a couple of dollars too...

Bought a 32mm wast to 40mm just the other week from a Tradelink plumbing store.

I know its an old thread but, you can buy a 32x40 trap adaptor, they are rubbish and more trouble than theyre worth. The best way around it is to buy a 32x40 plug and waste, where you still have the 32mm plug & washer but the backnut is actually the 40mm thread the trap screws on to. Made of brass and chrome plated. Make sure you use your multis to do it up and not your hand as the thread is usually cut to a fine edge and will slice you to bits!!!
