    Default Help! Westinghouse Rs825s Fridge

A friend of mine has spent over a week searching for details of the hose that goes from the fridge to the tap and has found nothing.

Does anyone happen to have one of these fridges?

He has tried Westinghouse, Fidgidair, UK Forums etc. Whirlpool forums seem to be down at the moment too.

He is ideally hoping to find a parts list or, failing that, will be quite happy to be told what goes there. Some fridges just have a 1/2" hose, others 6mm pipe, some have filters etc.

    Non essential minor rant follows:

Westinghouse deserve a rocket, their website does not list parts for the fridge, so he drove to Footscray to be told that the Parts place does not keep hoses as they are plumbers supplier's parts. When told they came with the fridge the response was "what is the part number or we can't help". They gave him a number in tech support that was wrong, it was the Parts number online where he had already tried. They gave him a 1900-number that costs $2 per minute with no guarantee of them knowing what it was, and the number is for assistance, not parts anyway. Being quite annoyed he asked to be put on to complaints. He waited on hold for ten minutes then was asked to leave his number and they would call back (due to heavier than normal demand on 02 Jan )

Two hours later someone returns the call and says he needs to talk to tech support, without giving him the number they transferred him to oblivion and the call disconnected. This is where I come in, I have a co -worker swearing and blowing bubbles in his cubicle and would like to help.

Groggy its just a hose take the old one and go to someone like n-z weather its for hydraulic or water no diffrence , just get a flexable one with the same fittings and make sure its long enough so you can pull the fridge out and turn off the tap, because my fridge had a coiled copper pipe and I was worried about fatigue etc and I had a bookcase on the wall in the other room I cut a trap door so I can turn off the tap and disconect the hose , havent had to use it so far thank god but the bottom line is if its just a hose you don't need the costly part , modify or adapt something else and you will have proberly a better solution

Thank you. He does not have the original part anymore (his wife gave it away during a garage sale as a spare hose for a car washer ) so he does not know what it looks like or what the part number is. Westinghouse can't help either. We found one on eBay that had a coiled pipe and some sort of junction valve. On the American Fridgidair site there is a plastic pipe with two 1/2" connectors and on a Brit site we found a White Westinghouse with a hose and filter .

He is not averse to using plastic as opposed to copper etc, but he does need to know if there should be valves or filters or whatever inline as well.

    Thanks for the help!

    PS n-z?

My Westinghouse has a coilled copper pipe there was the option to fit an inline filter but the thought of pulling the fridge out to change it and the fact we have excellent water here I opted not to fit it, there were no valves or reducers just the pipe

Thanks again Ashore. Spent the better half of a day trying to find 5mm copper pipe, then fittings, then a flare tool to fit. Finally got some second hand pipe from an aircon place and will clean that out tonight with compressed air and cleaning fluid before flaring etc. I can't quite believe how difficult this was , glad my fridge is an LG.
