A few years ago we got the job of fixing a couple of cracked pieces in a family "heirloom" leadlight.
The panel was originally in the front door of the ladies family home in country WA. When the home was demolished she grabbed it and then had it placed in a door in her then home.

The plan was to have it repaired and returned so she could put it a new door in her new home

I had to go and remove the panel from the door. "No problem" I said, won't take long. When I arrived and started I discovered that some genius had glued the panel in with Liquid Nails and then a moulding over that.
The only way was to make a trace of the panel and then remove it from the lead came in individual pieces. What should have been a relatively straight forward remove/repair became a complete rebuild with commensurate time and therefore cost blowout.

She just sent photos of it in place in her new home and we're delighted..
