In my unit complex, a professional project manager has specified 2-pac paint on garage doors that are currently exterior vinyl. (I think it's a dumb idea to paint them at all, but I was out-voted because other owners want to change the colour from woodland grey to cream/beige.)

Anyway,... the painter foreman is putting up very strong resistance against using 2-pac primer in this situation. All of the guidance I could find via google talks (mostly) about simply using exterior acrylics instead. (I don't like this idea either since exterior acrylic is far less durable than exterior vinyl. But...)

I'd also have thought that 2-pac over vinyl would be like putting a hard, inflexible coat onto a flexible surface, hence not a good idea. (This is in QLD, hence lots of sun/heat.)

What do experts here think about this?

TIA.
