    Default Painting a colourbond roof

I've just finished an extension to the original house and the new part has a different colour colourbond roof to the old part which is very faded and grimy anyway. if I clean it, can the old roof be painted and if so, with what sort of paint ?

Are you on the low side of the road or something? Who sees the roof apart from birds and police spotter choppers [helicopters]
The only people who see my roof is the house over the back fence so thats their problem

there are a range of paint products available that will suit - contact the manufacturer of the material or go to a paint shop - I recommend a paint specialist, as opposed to a Bunnings type place.

I have done this job and while it is a biggie, is totally "do-able"

you can also get one of those roof restoration places to do the work, if you don't mind payingn PLENTY for the joy of it.

Gumby, do a search on colourbond or bhp steel, a fair while ago I did one and I am sure that they reccomend using acrylic paint. Most hardware store/paint shops can match colourbond paint colours.

Thanks guys. Just for the record, yes we are on the low side so the roof is a fairly prominant feature. I'll go have a chat to the paint store man during the week.

I have the same job ahead of my (later).

    made some enquies

    seems preasure cleaning is prefered.

scrubbing with a broom, hose can be done.
most recomended cleaning agent is citric acid.
some recommend strong bleach (purchased as liquid pool chlorine) a little hasardous I some say not good for the roof.

Industrial enamel was recommended to me, it was considered that by the time the years if weather, cleaning agents & preasure cleaner, the paint shoud stick with out further encouragement.

spraying was recommended ( large pot airless).

    Caution risk of falling.

most states now need some form of fall protection unless its low set ( like 9 foot to the gutters)
