    Default Patio/pergola/?? publication?

    Hi all...

I have to build a covered outdoor entertainment area (patio/pergola/veranda/?) and would like to do some reading. The net has a wealth of information but lots of contradictions too. Can anyone recommend a publication which will help me out? I would like to have a go at the twin flat gable approach seen here so the publication needs to address gable roofs.

    Thanks in advance...

    Hi There

The Allan Stains books are good and there is one specifically for pergolas. His books also provide span tables, which should provide the information you need to build in the style you are after.

You'll find the Staines book that Bob refers to in the book and magazine section in Bunnings (at the checkouts at my local)
Ours is not to reason why.....only to point and giggle.

    Thanks guys,
I dropped into my local Bunnies this afternoon and looked at their books. They had the Staines roofing and interior decorating book but none of the patio ones. Will keep an eye out for that one noting the general consensus is its a good book.

Just did a surf of the net and found it here for $25.90 which includes express post delivery to my door, don't have to worry about making a special trip to Bunnies now.

    Cheers,

Most of the large book shops have them or can order them. Otherwise you can get them from www.buybuildingsupplies.com.au ... if you can wait a couple of days delivery.
