Question Has anyone fitted this sort of removable table bracket successfully?

I bought some of these stainless steal table brackets to use for a removable table, but I can't get them to work.

The brackets are in two parts, a wall bracket and an 'L' shaped table bracket that slots into the wall bracket.
I've found that the space behind the wall bracket is too small for the 'L' to be inserted properly. If I space the wall bracket out with washers then I get the 'L' bracket in but it either locks in never to be released again or is so loose a fit that the table wobbles. There doesn't seem to any in-between position that works.

If anyone has successfully fitted them in the past I'd appreciate some ideas on how it's done.

These are the ones I bought ... Table Brackets S/S(4 Pcs)

This is the best fit I've been able to get with the wall bracket fitted straight to the wall but the shelf isn't inserted very far and so still a bit loose.

Have you placed the removable insert WITHOUT the table fitted then sat table on to mark exact position of the mounting screws for the table top?
The person who never made a mistake never made anything

    Cheers

Yes. That's exactly how I did it. Even without the table top fitted those brackets only go down as far as is shown in that photo.
