Insurance
What do you all do about insurance of your wooden boats? I could not find any insurance that did not cost less than a third of the cost of the Simmons that I build a few years ago. I have been asking around again as I am getting ready to build another boat and have been told I have to get the boat surveyed during construction a few times and then get someone to sign off on it. the simmons hull cost less than $2000. They wanted about $600 for insurance and it would have cost about the same to have it surveyed. Any suggestions on who to get just third party insurance?

Give Duck Flat a call or email them. They have someone in a brokerage that has an interest in wooden boats so helps them out.
You will probably need an inspection by someone with a qualification or obvious experience the first time - but once its insured - its insured!
