    Angry Oakum

I am looking for oakum/cabbages to caulk an old milkboat. Having great difficulty finding it! Does anyone have any ideas on where to find some?

Not directly, but I know it is available. Suggest you look up "shipwrights' in Yellow Pages, find one who advertises his speciality in wooden boats and ask him. Alternatively the local slipways would be able to help. Worst case try 'Yacht Chandlers'

Maybe none of these can supply, but all should be able to point you to a supplier.

    Isn't oakum unteased old rope?
They used to use the old ropes on the sailing ships to caulk the seams in the hull. It also used to be used in plumbing when joining gal pipe and fittings.

Just get some rope and undo it.
