    Default Paint strippers

I am considering using some paint stripper on the hull of my clinker speed boat that I am currently restoring/rebuilding. I have seen a couple of products that seem less hazardous to the environment and to the operators one is Starten in the US of A the other is available in Australia from a company in Sydney that sells the Coopers system from NZ. The system in Australia is available from DIY Paint Stripping - Paint Stripper - Paint Remover Products.

Does any one have any comments on the effectiveness of these products
    Cheers
    Peter

From my limited experience the best paint strippers are the most hazardous.

Most of the "environmentally friendly" strippers (they use a tree instead of a pole I guess?) are less effective then the harsh chemicals versions. They work, often slower and not as completely, but with a recoating (if necessary), will do the job.

Nope, never heard of it (only kidding). Star 10 is one of the newer organic, biodegradable products. I've heard good things about it and it's available in liquid, aerosol and gel formulations. Take a look at their web site for more information and product recommendations.

I use an industrial set of chemicals, which aren't available at the retail level. These will peel the hide off most anything, but also will kill you if you don't protect yourself.

This is what I use Peter, in fact I used it this very afternoon to strip oil based paint on top of water based paint and it worked perfectly as it always does. Notice that it contains no flammable solvents.
