    Default WOODEN BOAT STEAM BENDING EXPERIENCE WANTED Brisbane area

    Hi, I currently have an old wooden boat of around the late 1930's that has had a few planks removed topside due to rot, Needing experienced Shipwright with bending experience to help in Restoring this old girl back to its former glory, Hourly Rate Negotiable , Call Troy 0417626803

    Welcome to the forum.

    Planking doesn't often need to be steamed into position, particularly craft from that era, who's lines are usually "soft" enough to "wrap" planking stock around without much cussing.

    Can you post some photos of the boat?

    Any good boat carpenter can nurse you through, if not hire on to do the job. Insure they've "hung" planks previously, as you don't want someone to learn this skill on your boat.

    Hi Par,
    The planks will be of spotted gum 60mm x 23mm this I have Heard is a relative easy to bend once steamed, The bend is around 25 - 30deg to the bow , I will take a better pic tomorrow. Yes anyone with experience in boats and wood work will be needed , Cheers
