You have used the wrong type of tape. Only paper tape should be used on ceilings.

It is a common problem, I just cant understand why people selling plasterboard won't explain to people not to use mesh tape!!!

Wet And Stick Paper tape


This tape has an adhesive backing similar to that of a postage stamp. The tape is cut to length and run through water to wet the tape. The tape is placed in position and wiped in with a 3" joint knife. Once dry apply a thin coat of base coat over the tape.
Similar problems can occur using wet and stick as normal paper tape. Unless proper preparation is done these problems can be worse. To prepare the internal for using wet and stick, pre-fill all gaps over 2mm and pre fill all nail holes.
Wet and stick tape is also very useful to repair cracked joins. It allows you to repair the join with the minimum amount of build up.

Where can I buy wet and stick paper tape?

That sounds like a good idea. I've never heard of it.

Paper tape is a pain, what with air bubbles, and having to apply base coat underneath it. It's a big hassle compared to gausetape, but this wet and stick sounds like it's got the best of both worlds, with ease of use and added strength.

when using easy tape again, put compound in joint first

then bed in easy tape into wet compound

skim over again, let dry

then ready for 2nd base coat and final top coat

Hmm will make no difference Myla Just don't use it on ceilings FULL STOP.

Look in the yellow pages, any plasterboard store will have it Anisonol.

Word of warning Pawnhead, wet and stick is not always easy to use! As mentioned above you can get the same issues with tape bubbles, They have to be cut out and repaired as with normal paper tape. I don't like the fact that every gap needs to be prefilled, and if you have small paper bumps, that can cause a bubble as well.

Normal paper tape is much easier to use. See paper tape on my site for detailed instructions. Followthem and you will have not trouble at all. If you do you will know the reason why and be able to rectify it.

Can anyone shed some light on where I can buy this "wet and stick" paper tape from?
I have tried the CSR Trade centre at Taren point and another place, no cigar!
