    Default Suspended ceiling

hi all, just wondering if you can tell me, I have made a few calls trying to get someone to do a suspended ceiling in one of my rooms (is that what u call if where the cornices cant be fixed without smashing them out so you put a fake ceiling lower than them?) Its 1 room 1.2m x 4m and the quote was $1700 for stock standard el-cheapo cornices on the suspended ceiling ... sounds a lot to me but willing to cough up the coin if someone can confirm thats about the going rate ... have also been having difficulty getting people to quote on this job ... would this be because its too small a job or do not many people do this kind of work? thanks!

I calculate that job to be around $800.00 if the site access is good.

(I am a builder, but sorry, I have three jobs on the go at the moment, so am not available).

If I were you, I would go down to the local plasterboard outlet.... (proper trade outlet, not handyman) and ask for names of a couple of their regular plasterboard contractors.
The job is very small, so you may have to wait a little, until one of the guys has a slow week, but you should get the job done at a reasonable price.

    Good luck.

Spot on fossil but can be done even better that. For 3 hours work I would make $600 for that price. Materials are about $120 plus delivery.

You only need help for 5 minutes to put up the sheet. or do it yourself with a join to stop. Still do it in 3 hrs.

Frame the ceiling out using 51mm steel stud and track.

Don't pay that guy $1700 Fly me up to Sydney for the day on a $100 airfair and we will get it done for $1000 LOL.

Seriously though this is a very simple job that can be completed ready to paint in a few hours.

    Cheers Rod

thanks for the feedback guys ... yeah thats what i suspected.
When he gave me the quote i was like 'yep, thats fine' then i asked how many days he would need to do it so i could know when i could paint it 'it will be done in a day no probs' .... i was like, thats a lot of coin for one day that you sound pretty cruisey about ... hence y i asked ...
you able to point me in the right direction for who the trade platerboard centre would be fossil? seeing as your the blueys thought u might know of the sydney folk ... the one i found in sydney that didnt look too fancy shmancy was grayking ... i have given them a call and asked them to get someone to call me so if im headed in the right direction thats cool ... thanks for getting back to me guys, appreciate it.
