Beach Dolly Suppliers for Dinghy
Can anyone in Adelaide recommend a supplier for a beach dolly?
I'm looking at the trailering options for the Vagabond dinghy (think Heron) that I'm restoring, and believe that a beach dolly is the best option that will allow me to handle the boat on my own (or with small kids).
I have a trailer that I can probably make roadworthy for cheaper that I can buy a new one, but it wouldn't like the salt water much, and I want to be able to launch off the beach. So I figure a beach dolly that I can drag up onto this existing trailer (or even my 6x4 if it'd fit) would be my cheapest option.
Ideally, I'd like one of the Mackay "Off the Beach" series of trailers, but that a lot more than I can justify for this boat at the moment.
So, any ideas?

Weld an A-frame together with a pair of wheels on the back end. Remember the thing the Torch had? I've got the welder if you want to have a go.

Try the Mattel Toy Company and ask for their Barbie at the Sea Shore collection . . .

I contacted the local Heron association, and it seems that most people just get a mate to weld it up.
Looks like I just add it to the list of projects I have lined up.

For what it's worth Mike, my local steel fabricator is pretty good and able to understand weird requests - they're the ones that made the H racks for my trailor.
Duck down into the Storer forum and check out dhgmm's Duck thread - he's made a wooden trolley that looks right up your alley, especially with your collection of recycled timber.
Dean can weld ... but hasn't done it for awhile. I've got a crap welder ... that'll need some repairs maybe. You're into strange and unusual tasks. Hey, I reckon we could give the kids some harmless entertainment one saturday afternoon

I'm not sure what you call it down there, but I've made a few from old "hand trucks", you know the 2 wheeled things you use to move furniture. Weld up a stand for the ball on the plate formerly used to lift with.

This is more like what I'm after, but I reckon this one might be a bit flimsy.
I like the one that David Gomm has made for his PDR. That sort of thing may be an alternative while I work out what suits me, but it'll need to be a bit beefier for a 12 footer. And the boat will sit on it on the trailer, so it needs to be able to be held down on it well, and take a few bumps.
If I can find a supplier for this one from Mackay Trailers, when my old trailer falls apart, I can buy a new one that the beach "trolley" would fit perfectly onto.

The one in the photo looks like a nice unit Mike. The strap at the back is a clever answer to varying shaped boat bottoms. Any idea of the cost?
