Blunts in Victoria
I have been trying to get some history on my boat. She was probably built by Blunts in Victoria and they have a website. I sent the details in an email some time ago but have had no reply.
Other than them someone else might know a bit. She was called the Nautilius, 37ft long, tight seamed( no caulking), powered by a 5LW Gardner, crayed out of King Is then Flinders.
It would be nice to know her early history.

Mate , have you tried the old "dog and bone ?".
I've spoken to Greg before on 93972323 , about a boat built by Blunts over 100 years ago , and he was very helpful.

Thanks fellas
Have just spoken to Greg and he was very helpful. He did not think they had built the boat. I will send him some photos from the 60s just to be sure. So the search goes on. I dont suppose it is the end of the world if I dont find where she was built but wouldn't it be lovely to find an old set of plans.

Mate , you could also try Garry Stewart at Port Fairy , he built a lot of Cray boats with Gardners in them , and so did the Lacco's , Tim Phillips could help you there.
As a matter of interest , there is a cray boat here built by Garry's father I believe , with a 5LW in it , and another with a 5LW , that crayed in Tassie , but i don't know who built it.
Regards Rob J.

Have you been in touch with Mori Flapan, he looks after the Register of Australian and New Zealand ships and boats, also you could try David Payne of the ANMM. You might strike it lucky.
Good luck, mate.Last edited by HUON; 30th November 2011 at 05:28 PM. Reason: incorrect grammar
