Chantiers-Naval Pirogue
Hey all.....I have had no luck on several differnt forums regarding this pirogue that I have acquired. It is 15 1/2' long and has a brass plate on the front cross brace that says Chantiers-Naval DE-SARTROUZILLE (S.&-Q). Any idea as to history, age, value??? I obviously is very old.....but in excellent shape. I purchased it from a family who bought it in England when they went antique shopping recently...and shipped a container back to the states. Thanx for the help....Dana

Chantiers-Naval Piroque
Dwalkerman,
I can't be a great deal of help, but it may point you in a better direction -
Chantiers-Naval just means 'Boat-builders'
De Sartrouzeille just means 'of Sart....'
It has my (French) wife puzzled, as Sartrouzeille is inland. Maybe there's a river close by?
Sounds like a nice acquisition,
Good luck,
JohnnoGrowing old disgracefully...

pirogue
Thanx for the info...I have found out a bit. Sartrouzeille is on the Seine river........that's about it. Since I paid for it...I guess I'm the expert on the value!!!! If I find out anymore I'll send pics. BTW..I live on the Little Red River just north of LR...and when they run 2 generators.......surf's up!!!!!! Take care... keep your lines tight and hooks sharp!!!!
