Classic and Wooden Boat Festival - Roll the Credits
I agree, lots of nice floating timber on show. But for me there was something missing.
There was not always an indication of who should get the credit for everything that demanded admiration. This applies to many larger boats whose info posters typically contained the owners name and a note like 'restored at Joe Blogg's Shipyard'.
Sure, dedicated owners and those who bust their gut to keep a small shipyard running make it all possible and often do the work themselves. However, that's not always the whole story.
My hope is that respected craftspeople receive general recognition for great work. Sadly, I've only heard about some from reading obits in boating magazines. That's too late.
In lesser works of art, like movies, they manage to find the space to recognise the guy who made the coffee and biscuits. There must be space on boat show posters to name more names.
