Doug Hylan Peapod
Just a little further to my earlier thread concerning the building of a Doug Hylan Peapod. Sandra and I launched her 1/8/09 on Manton Dam just south of Darwin. She rows superbly and was very comfottable with 3 adults aboard. I am still trying to give away the molds but as expected no takers in Darwin and most other places are too expensive to ship to.

Um Hendo, looks like you had a fold in the plans and you built her with two front ends

Absolutely stunning.
Do you have any specifications, length, weight? Is it the 13 footer?
Also have you tried it with a GPS to see how she performs?
Looks like a fantastic boat.

This is a Doug Hylan designed 13' Peapod.6mm ply and hardwoods including mahogany, jarrah, black wattle and Tiwi Island Bloodwood. The boat featured in Wooden Boat magazine a couple of years back and the plans are still readily available. The jarrah and black wattle brought her weight up a bit-not sure of detail-but the boat is easily carried by two people. It could be quite a bit lighter.
I reckon taking a GPS on board might induce unwanted cardiac symptoms so suffice to say she rows uncommonly well as would be expected from the shape.
