Historic 18' skiffs - Sydney
On the weekend, I sat in as a beginner crew member on "Top Weight", one of the Historic 18' skiffs that are run out of the Sydney Flying Squadron (and part of the Australian Historical Sailing Skiff Association fleet). The course was Kirribilli, Shark Island, Kirribilli, Clark Island, Shark Island, Kirribilli.
Seems that new crew are always welcome, the sailors are welcoming and friendly, the replica boats link you to the 1900 - 1950 competitive 18' skiff scene... I had a ball and will keep grinning for days.
As 'old school Aussie' as 'Clancy of the Overflow', swagmen, drovers, couta boats and brumbies.
Contact the Sydney Flying Squadron if you are interested in getting on as crew, its a blast and keeps something unique alive.

Can't wait for tomorrow when I go out again. 10 -15 knots forcast for the arvo of both Friday and Saturday, which is apparently the best windspeed for the boat I'll be on.
