    Default Home-made jigsaw table

There was an article in the current AABB on making a small jigsaw table.
I had made a combination jigsaw/circ saw table a decade or so ago.
Worked better as a jigsaw than circ saw table, & the article reminded me
    that I missed having one.

The top of my old one was shot - 19mm chipboard which had got wet.
It was also a total PITA getting the jigsaw on & off the table, requiring
removal & reattachment of the sole plate. Figured by combining the old
table frame with the AABB article as a guide, I'd get the best of both worlds.

One thing I wasn't willing to do was drill holes in my sole plate. So I used
some old meranti cupboard door louvres to make a locating cradle, &
replaced the through-sole screws with clamping plates. The clamping
    screws are epoxied in place.

Another refinement was to replicate the fine-cut plastic inserts for the
deWalt shoe by filling in the 8mm blade hole with epoxy, with an ice-cream
stick wrapped in elect tape inserted to create a narrow blade slot.
Pic 5 shows the back of a cut in a bit of old, splintery pac maple 3-ply.
    Clean.

Result is a sweet working table on which I was able to accurately cut out
MIK's foil templates with a miniscule amount of sanding to finish off. Same
deal with the lower curve of the foil itself (40 seconds with a coarse blade).
The locating blocks for the top onto the frame are tight, but despite this,
the saw can be removed/inserted in about a minute flat.

    Well worth the effort...
    cheers
    AJ

That looks pretty good AJ. Does the blade stay vertical? I always have trouble with jigsaw blades wandering on the unseen side of the cut but have never tried a table mounted one.

    It does stay vertical Bob.
Good thing is that this way up, you can see it to control the direction of pressure of
the job to the blade to keep it vertical. Cost was about $10 for bolts, wing-nuts & screws. The rest of it came out of the scraps box, plus a few dabs of 'pox.
    cheers
