Default Register of Australian and New Zealand Ships and Boats

    Dear all

I have just joined the Forum today. Looking through the various threads, I saw that there were numerous requests to identify or find the history of particular boats.

I have been compiling a database called the Register of Australian and New Zealand Ships and Boats. There are currently over 46,000 boats listed. Further information can be obtained from my website at ANZ Ship Register. You can find out more about the scope of the register on the webpage at:
    ANZ Ship Register Scope

The database itself is not on line. You need to contact me directly.
If you are interested to know what might be on the register for a particular vessel, or would like to add a vessel to the register, please send me an email preferably using the template that can be downloaded from http://www.boatregister.net/ANZRegisterForm.doc The more detail you can provide the better as there may be dozens of boats of a given name (for example Elizabeth).

The website contains a number of useful references including lists of builders and their boats/ships for Victoria, NSW, Tasmania and South Australia. These of course represent a snapshot of the information at hand at the time and are updated from time to time.

There is also a section called 'Help Wanted' that can be viewed at: Help Wanted

This contains requests by others seeking information to identify, locate, or otherwise add to information on boats. If you are interested in having your boat featured in this way to assist in research please contact me.

I look forward to searching through the archives of the site and hopefully hearing from participants from time to time.

    Regards
    Mori

    HI Mori,

You and your work have come up several times in discussions over the years. Probably around ten times that I can remember.

Feel very welcome to use this forum as publicity and a contact point for your project if you wish. Lots of people would see what you wrote and they are the types to share information and tell others what they have seen.

    Best wishes
    Michael Storer

Hi Mori, good to hear from you again. Thank you for all the work you have done to date, in particular registering Wavedancer. Will we see you at Newport (RMYC) this year? There is always a coldy in the fridge for you. All being well WD should be tarted up for the show and the little Auk should be there also.

    Hi Ian

Thanks for the kind words. The register relies on input from persons such as yourself. So thank you and others that have contributed. Yes, I will probably attend the Newport WBF. Do you know the dates?

I recently received an inquiry about a motor cruiser called Blue Peter that participated in the Goolwa Wooden Boat Festival. The owner David Newble is trying to establish the boat's origins. Apparently she transferred to South Australia in 1953. I have put together a web page to help David. The web page can be seen at:

    Blue Peter

I would be grateful to hear from anyone who might know of the boat's earlier history. Perhaps you were in the Mosman area in the early 1950s and can recognise the boat or know of a boat that left for South Australia.

    Regards
    Mori

    G/Day Mori .
I would encourage everyone with an interest in boats to check out Mori's site.
I was even able to help him out on a couple of boats , besides my own.
The more we can help Mori , the more , ultimately , he can help us all.
    Thanks mate.
