Heaps of fun, I finished up looking like a chook's breakfast.

    Some more pics.

That is one seriously loaded Tetra.

We did manage to get into a boat that was more our size later on, see the last pic.

We had some good wind & scored a couple of good splashes & I lost my forum cap on that trip.

At first I said it was a keel boat & then I was told it was a centreboard sloop but I said I didn't remember seeing any centreboard so, after a few e-mails, I have some more info about this boat. Secret & Secret.

I got some more pics in the mail today.
These are off a friend's camera but I took a lot of them 'cos his camera is better than mine.

This is the bloke who owns the camera.
He is in an old restored OK.
He was sailing OKs when he was 12.
Check out some of these shots.
    He makes it look easy...
The bloke who now owns this boat, & restored it so well, turned it turtle on his first trip out in it not long before these photos.

Is the Laser II a recognised class??
How do they fit the jib or isn't it a luff pocket anymore.

    Howdy,

The Laser II is a totally different class from the Laser. It was meant as a 420 killer.

It has a conventional tracked mast a trapeze and quite a nice sized spinnaker.

For a while they were quite popular on the US intercollegiate scene but the rig is a bit crappy - pull on the mainsheet or the boomvang and the mainsail flattens out excessively because of the way the rig is designed.

I would have come equal third (in a borrowed boat) in a National championship for the class a long time ago if I had known the rules a bit better. We got taken out by a non racing trailer sailer on port tack (sailed straight into us and we ended up being Diddled by Marine Hull insurance because both boats had policies under them - Like I said - it was a long time ago). I should have protested to claim average points for that race.

The Guys who did come third also lost a race because of a mishap - but they did claim for it. They ended up becoming Olympic representatives in the 470 class and were sailing a borrowed boat too.

    MIK
