    Default Traditional Dalmatian Boats

During this year's holidays I had a chance (finally) to se some traditional sail boats.

They held a local reggata arround the island with three different types of boats.

    Here are some pics:

    Lineup for the start:

    And start:

This was my favourite, very nicely restored:

And some smaller boats struggling to get ahead:

A very cute little boat (lug rig):

These boats are traditional boats from Adriatic sead in Dalmacia, Croatia. See the link for the map:

Are the Traditional Dalmatian Boats easily recognized by their black spots?

    Par

Some sails did have some brown spots.

Thre green boat in particular looked like that (seems to be the oldest and slowest, but did have canvas and not dacron sails).

    Cheers,
    Peter

    Hi Koala,

Flickr told me that you had put these up and I had a look there. I was going to ask you if you wanted to put them up here too. They are great - and most of us have no chance to see.

Thanks so much! I am about to pop over to my subforum and see if you have put the sailing pics of your green PDR and sailing with your kids. Some really nice pics there too.

    Best wishes
    Michael

Yes I did put some photos on Picasa web album and then I treansfered them here.

I'm planning to post some PDR pics to in the PDR thread.

We had 12 days of holidays and I was sailing every day apart from one rainy day.
    Cheers,
    Peter

Or is it because they are timber boats and still have bark?

    (Where is my medication?)
