Well next time we meet, Teal should be a different performer.
New rudder blade - antique style, compared with old one, and new sail.
The free sewing machine isn't fixable so I'll probably just stick
the sail down with duct tape, same as the last 3 or 4.

Geez Mike, do they have a list of antisocial groups!

    Bad boys we!

BTW ... is it as the "SA" group? That would be good.

Be interesting to swap and change ... the new sail might even make the old rudder a lot more effective.

    Academically, yes.

Functionally.... having **delighted** at the handling of
Nutshell & Tender Behind, the little blade is OFF !! I'm sure I'll find another
use for it one day. And anyway, the fig.8 loops for the up & down-hauls
are a cast-iron bitch to tie & untie. Unscrewed the fittings from the old boom & attached to the new. Old boom/s look like they might be effective
    spinnaker poles.

    But possibly not on Teal....

Rigged the sail yesterday, & promptly had to pull it down & tape over a
bunch of manufacturing defects - a line of cuts from top to bottom. So
no pics. Heaps of power even sheltered amongst the trees in the back yard.
I'm already a little wary of it. Teal will require much baling when / if I
eventually dunk her. Tested the reefing as well. A spinnaker might be a bit
..... ambitious for a large slow person in a small unstable boat.
    cheers

I'm headed for Cairns for the school hols.
After that, back onto week-end shifts for a few weeks.
Needs to happen though - 'tis a Good Thing & highly desirable as a regular event.

A big chance would be when Mike is ready to launch his PDRacer. Though if that is too far away we should consider meeting up before then.

Yep it's getting close now. I will post a date soon when I get the catering department in to gear. Perhaps slightly delayed so AJ can test the new rig as well.

    Cheers

Don't even think of delaying on my account. Looking at my shift roster, it will probably
be 6 or 7 weeks before I'll be available on a weekend again. Get launched !!
I might try the new rig quietly on a weekday when not so many are looking....

Anyone interested in a gathering the next couple of weekends ?
SWMBO is filling my calendar fast, but Sat 22/11 & Sun 30/11 are still vacant.

Have also, courtesy of the local pot growing society, acquired some 20L
drums which formerly contained hydroponics fertiliser. Bright white so should
be effective marks for MIK to thrash us around. Probably ought to stick a
flag on them so they look less like floating rubbish.

    Any takers ?

Default Sail 22nd or 30th Nov

    Hi AJ,
I will be up for either day. Any preferences for the venue. Mik and I sailed on the Patawalona and it works well for the small boats.

Either of those days suit me so I can meet the rest of the reprobates of the SA U-Beaut Wooden Boat Charter Division of the First Squadron twice removed , hang on sounds more like a family tree
    So lets get it happening

Sat 22th Nov shaping up as my preferred date - have been made an appealing offer for Sun 30th.

The Pat & Westlakes are preferred given our small boats.
The Pat may be a bit polluted if the rain clouds threateneing at this moment
    actually eventuate. http://www.bom.gov.au/weather/radar/

Tried out Murray Bridge the other month with a kayak. Excellent water, but might be a bit busy of a weekend with water-skiers. Except for behind Long
Island where motor boats are banned.

    cheers
