    SOUTH THOMASTON — Harold H. “Dynamite” Payson, 82, died March 23, 2011, at Maine Medical Center in Portland, after suffering an aneurysm at his home early that same day.

    Friends and relatives are invited to visit Thursday, March 31 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home, 110 Limerock St. in Rockland. A celebration of Dynamite’s life will be held at the funeral home Friday, April 1 at 11 a.m. A reception will follow at 104 Limerock.

    In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Carpenter’s Boat Shop, 440 Old County Road, Pemaquid, ME 04558. A full obituary will be published. To see a full obituary or share a memory or story with Dynamite’s family, visit his online guest book at bchfh.com

    It would be fair to say that, through his association with Phil Bolger, Harold got me back on the water. Between the two of them they made boating accessible to many who thought it far beyond them.

    I was on the phone with him not very long ago. He was a good man. The industry is lacking, as a result of his passing.
