Who's coming to the Wooden Boat Festival in Hobart????
Hi all,
How many here are coming down to the Australian Wooden Boat Festival in Hobart ? - Feb 6-9th inclusive see http://www.australianwoodenboatfestival.com.au/
Should be around 500 boats and 60,000 people over the 4 days(By contrast, the Sydney one at Darling harbour only had 6000 people through and Sanctuary Cove around 56,000). Last one was an absolute ripper.
So who's coming and are you bringing a boat?

YEP, a group of us are going.
Not taking any boats, as it is too expensive.
Look forward to meeting new people as we usually do.

I'll be there from the 5th to the 11th.
I'm not a boatie but I've been to the wooden boat centre at Franklin a number of times, I'm looking forward to it. Staying with a friend who works at/with the living boat trust so expect to have quite a few day trips lined up.Last edited by snowyskiesau; 13th January 2009 at 02:26 PM. Reason: update

I've never been so I don't know a good meeting place.
I'll have a WWF cap on & I'll wear my WWF shirt a couple of days but I doubt it will last 4 days.
At the T&WWW shows there are usually agreed meeting places & times that are pre-arranged, anybody got any ideas?
I can PM my mobile number to anybody interested.Cliff.

So who's back from the Wooden Boat Festival?
I'm not a boatie but I was fascinated by it all.
I went along to all 4 days and managed to find something new every day. There were many exhibits worth a second (or third, or fourth) look.
I took about 500 photos over the 4 days so SOME of them must have turned out OK. I'll post a few of the more successful ones that may be of interest for the woodworking content.Last edited by snowyskiesau; 12th February 2009 at 08:50 AM. Reason: grammer

I was lucky enough to be in Hobart when the festival was on.
A lot of boats!!!
Lots of lovely boats actually.
I had a good chat with a few of the plan suppliers and the cooper making barrels.
Very enjoyable.Scally

I missed it by a day but did get to go to the boat building school in Franklin, that was cool, I spent a couple of hours there.
