Default Wooden Boats at Maritime Museum

    Hi all,

For any wooden boat enthusiasts who might be in Brisbane on 19 to 21 September there will be a display of wooden boats of all shapes and sizes. This is a joint effort between the Maritime Museum of Queensland, the Wooden Boat Association of Queensland, and various other clubs and associations.

    More details here -
    http://www.woodenboat.org.au/qld/boat_show.htm

    See you there....
    Cheers,

    J

Default This one really impressed me

A WBAQ member has designed and built a
4.3m runabout mainly from Paulowna. She is named
“Canoodle” and is fitted with a 30hp Yamaha 4 stroke
outboard. (quiet, smooth, low poluting, reliable - who needs that?)

“Canoodle” was built in 2007 and launched in Feb 2008.

Its 4.3 m long 1.9m beam his own design using Freeship
software. Strips are Paulownia 8mm thick with 280 gsm
glass inside and out and 2
    layers to the water line.
Transom is 40mm thick made up of 5 x 8mm
laminations laid at right angles to each other. Hull is
strengthened with glassed in floors at 300mm centres.

He has a joinery factory so DXF's were generated from Freeship
and the frames cut on the CNC router.

He has bright finished it on the outside so it is staple-less.
