    Default Forum fonts

There has been an increase in the number of people using larger fonts for their whole posts.

Could I draw people's attention to what our Lord and Master has to say about this:

Font sizes: The forum font size is 2. the size this is written in. Continually using bigger fonts like this or this for entire posts is not acceptable and will be changed or deleted as ruins the flow of threads and many members refuse to read it.

Bigger font size may be used for effect or announcements, etc. eg: Don't do it!
or Urgent help needed, etc Other than that please don't do it!

The whole of these rules can be viewed here

If you use larger fonts because you have trouble reading what you type then you can either highlight the message before submitting it and change the font size to 2.

    or

On the most common computers you can hold down the Ctrl key and hit the + key to make the screen resolution bigger so you can see what you type much easier. Ctrl - will make the screen smaller and Ctrl 0 (zero) will take the screen back to standard size.

If you use the Ctrl settings you do not have do change the font size as it is only your screen size that is affected.

You can also use the Ctrl settings to read posts view pics and more in the open forums and lots of other stuff on the www.

One of our members has reported the above post and pointed out that the font size for the forum is 12 point not 2 point.

Sorry, but you are incorrect and what Neil says above is correct.

If you Edit a post, go to Advanced and click on Sizes next to Arial you get a dropdown box like this

Now select all or part of the text and pick 3 or larger from the Sizes box, now do that again and pick 2.

See what is the standard font size for the forum?

    Bigshed is dead right.

The font size for the forums is 2 (which equated to 12 point)

I was the one who confused the issue by calling it 2 point which it obviously is not.

For anyone wanting to know the standard fonts for composing of line they are as follows:

    Font name: Arial
Font size #2 or 12 point and it looks like this.

    Font name: Verdana
Font size #2 or 12 point and it looks like this.

    Font name: Times New Roman
Font size #2 or 12 point and it looks like this
As a rule, if it says Fonts and Size at the top of the edit box it will be for the default font and size of Arial and #2

The font families used on these forums are: verdana, geneva, lucida, 'lucida grande', arial, helvetica, sans-serif

Basically you can use any font that's available to you in the drop down, under Fonts. However not all computers will have the same fonts or font names installed so what you choose may look completely different on another computer, as it will be converted to one of the above font families.

So long story short stick to either of the top 2 fonts above and there shouldn't be a problem.

    Clear as mud, eh.

    Cheers - Neil
