    Default log on time

    G'Day Neil

Not a gripe this forum is the greatest thing since sliced bread, I run a centrino duo on broadband and it seems to take for ever to log on, and when on a lot of time to go between posts. e.g I just logged on at 10.37pm and it is now 10.53pm. If this is expected ok but my main trouble is I cannot stop while it is downloading/searching without cnl-alt-delete. By the way I only attempted one thread in that time, never got to it then came here, any suggestions,

    Thanks for the great forum
    Bernie.

G'day Bernie - I would say if you're on broadband and it takes more than a few seconds to load then there is a major problem with your broadband connection or your service provider.

There are a couple of things you can do to help but the problem is most likely your server.

    • First: and by far the best thing you can do to help yourself is to download and install Firefox especially if you're currently using Internet Explorer. You'll never use anything else again.
    • Second: Click the remember me box when you log in and don't log out when you leave the forums. Just leave and you will be automatically logged off. When you come back you will be automatically logged back in and it will be much faster - Logging out clears all the cookies and cached memory from your computer and that holds all your info for the forums and help to make it run faster.
    • Run a speed check to see what sort of download times you are getting on broadband you should be downloading at between 1000kb/s and 5000kb/s depending on your plan.

Hope this is of some help.

    Cheers - Neil
