Default Ways to read new posts

It occurred to me that many people never really think about how to read the forums once they find a way that works for them. There are in fact a number of options available that are quite handy.

Here is a screen shot of the New Posts forum window and six important components of the screen:

1 - Clicking on this will take you to the first unread post in the thread.

2 - Clicking this icon will take you to the last post in the thread.

3 - Clicking on the number of posts in the thread will return a new window listing all who have participated in the thread along with a post count of how many posts they have made in that thread.

4 - If you click on the thread title the thread will be opened, however, where you are taken to will depend on your settings in your User Control Panel (User CP) .

5 - Clicking on the Forum name takes you to the forum described listing a page of threads for that forum.

Thanks for that, there were a couple of options I wasn't aware of.

Another way to find out what things do on the forum is to put your foot in your mouth.

And don't think that the sight of foot in mouth doesn't provide a certain fiendish pleasure in the perverse

Ok...so this may be the stupidest question ever, but other than the link Groggy supplied above, how does one get to the new posts forum? There is no link i can find.

I notice in many posts people say they have added attachments ie photos. How do I or what do I click to view attachments?

Secondly, is there a method to view a State Specific market place?

In item 4 it mentions that the default behaviour for clicking on the thread title can be set in the User CP. I can't find anywhere in my settings to do this.
    Is this feature still available?

The current default behaviour is to go to the first post. Is this something that others regularly do rather than wanting to go to the first unread post?

I would like to go to the latest unread post when I click on a thread title rather than the first post. This should be the forum default in my opinion! The little down arrow is way too small to use on a tablet.

    Hi,
If you click on the button in front of the title it will take you to first unread (if you are logged in).
    Regards

    Hi Hugh,

Thanks but I find that the tiny down arrow button too small for my fat fingers.
It would be nice just to select the thread title to do it!
