    Herbie,
It seems all emails from wwf to bigpond are not getting through. I know the thread title might only refer to one type of email but at the time Grumpy started it he thought that was the only type affected.

BTW I have just checked my bigpond webmail was as I suspected - no new wwf email (lots of others though). That firms up my belief my email clients are not the issue. Back on gmail now.

Don't know if this helps or not, but just remembered that Bigpond has a few different addresses, .com, .com.au and .net.au if that makes any difference?

    Mine is a .net.au one.

No. I have tried telstra.com and bigpond.net.au and both are no go. The two smtp servers resolve to different ip addresses but that doesn't mean they are not physically the same. They would probably be part of the same server farm or at least share physical infrastructure and security/anti-spam technology.

Strangely enough the posts in this thread just started showing up in my email as bounced from bigpond and I found the reason why:

SMTP error from remote mail server after initial connection: host extmail.bigpond.com [61.9.189.122]: 554 nschwcmgw02p BigPond Inbound IB103. Connection refused. 75.126.207.178 has a poor reputation on the Cloudmark Sender Intelligence (CSI) list. Please visit CSI IP Reputation Remediation Portal to request a delisting.

I have put in a ticket to have this removed and if anyone else feels the need then you can click on the above link and see it it helps.

May take a little while to get resolved. When we got this new IP address a year or so ago we discovered that it had been used in the past for spam and this may be a hang over from that. Especially if it has been reported and also in the light of a hijacking of email server a couple of months ago when as many as half a million emails were sent out over a 24 hr period.

    Cheers

Blacklisted mailservers can be a nightmare to remedy. Some blacklist sites employ really dodgy logic and most can't differentiate solicited from unsolicited bulk email.

I've had mail servers blacklisted every time we would split large regular weekly emailings to 2500 clients into several smaller ones. It only started to show up when we brought the distribution task in-house. It was fine if we used a web-based mailing service that sent bulk emails in a staged process but not our own mailservers which would just push them out as fast as bandwdth would allow. Our clerical staff thought they were being efficient doing them all at once.

Good to know you might have gotten to the source issue Neil.

If it's a blacklisted mail server from some time in the past, how come the problem only just started happening?
I assume some changes have been made to cause this.

I just got flooded with a heap of 'lost' notifications. About 20 or so.
Does this mean the problem is now sorted?

I'm getting loads of wwf email now too.
    Problem appears solved.

Thanks for the efforts Neil, and others behind the scenes.

email is like elevators - you only notice when it doesn't work.
email is like buses - you might only need one, but three will always arrive at the same time.

I just changed back to my BigPong email address. Just waiting for my next notification to see if it arrives OK. (My earlier flood was to the Hotmail account.)

If you rec'd the verification email on bigpond to authorize the change then it will be working for all.

The flood of notifications that might follow are probably redundant for the most part.

Yep, I assumed that and now it's proven. Thanks.
