    Default Turning subscriptions off

Why do I have to turn subscriptions OFF every time I post something?
My inbox is being flooded with messages that someone has posted a reply.
It is so annoying that subscriptions are automatic, if I want to be notified, I should be able to choose so myself.
I have unticked everything I can find but I still get these annoying emails that I do not want, if I happen to forget to uncheck the Subscription box in the topic.

Wolfie, I had a similar situation but resolved it to my satisfaction. will do something to help you, but it might not be the best approach, unless you have more communication with him.

If you find User CP (left end of the menu bar near top of screen), you get a list of options for setting up your profile. Under Settings and Options there is an item Edit Options, which has the control for Default Thread Subscription Mode and a drop down box. Options in the drop down are No subscription, No email notification, Instant, Daily or Weekly email notification.

I like the subscription feature as such because it is a quick way to go back to threads I have contributed to. But I don't all the emails, so I have set the control to No Email Notification.

Works well for me, handy look back via subs list, and not getting emails. You might want something else, but you should be able to tweak things to suit.

There is another option, the one I use at present.

I have No Subscriptions in my User CP, but when I start a new thread I tick the Subscribe option for that thread.

If I want to keep track of someone else's thread, usually if I have contributed to it, I select Thread Tools at the top of the thread and select Subscribe to thread.

This way I am in control of what threads I subsribe to and whetehr I want to get email notification for a particular thread and when.

That's probably because they are for existing threads that you have already subscribed to, so you need to Unsubscibe from them

Go back to your User CP, click on List Subscriptions and delete any threads you no longer want to subscribe to.
