    Default Woodwork Forums Abbreviations

    Following continued requests from new members for explanations of the abbreviations I am starting a post that lists common abbreviations and their explanations. This is going to work similar to the Best of the Best thread. Post your abbreviations and the mods will combine it into one post with the suggestion posts deleted afterwards.

    Wood Work Abbreviations

    SCMS - Sliding Compund Mitre Saw
    BS - Band Saw
    TS - Table Saw
    DC - Dust Collector
    Darkside - handtool use
    Darksider - handtool user

    General Abbreviations

    SWMBO - She Who Must Be Obeyed
    DAMHIKT - Don't Ask Me How I Know This
    ATM - At The Moment
    FWIW - For What Its Worth
    IMHO - In My Humble Opinion
    BTW- By The Way
    TIA- Thanks In Advance

    But that list doesn't include RITFOTU or GSVLGI. Not, mind you, that I'm any more of a fan of acronyms than Al.

    When I was an MP i used to sit in on Treasury briefings. I swear there must be a degree in acronyms these people get. I was always interrupting with " does that mean". Fair dinkum in a 50 word pararaph there'd be 34 acronyms. Hate 'em.
    I move me and Al form a new Party. WHAP (We Hate Acronyms Party).
    Any seconders.

    Driver can be Whip. AKA The Whip of Whap.
