Bathtub waterproofing question
Hi there,
I am having the whole bathtub re-tiled, tilers said remove existing tile, and re-sheet the frame with villaboard. So took out the bathtub, removed the villawood and tiles.
Where sheet meets there is a lining and then I guess a coat of waterproofing membrane on top. I just want to redo it exactly the same, but I have trouble in finding what exactly this lining is called.
Would anyone could suggest name and brand(s) of this lining and if I could find it a bunnings along with that white water proofing membrane.
I might also have to add a few pieces of stuctural pine, should it be treated pine...or just your regular strutural pine...too be honest when they build the house I would like to think all the wood structure is treated in some kind of way, especially when leaving the structure out in the rain when they build...

I'm not an expert in this area Cal (or any other areas for that matter) but I think that what you're looking for is a tile-preparation waterproofing kit they do sell at Bunnings. It's in the tile section and is made by Dunlop. The kit consists of a strip of membrane material, primer, and the blue waterproofing coating. First you prime the villaboard and when it's dry (30 mins) you paint on a coat of the blue stuff, then apply the membrane over the joins (by pressing it into the "still wet" blue coating like plaster tape). When it all dries you go over it again with another coat of the blue coating, and when that dries you can re-tile.

Hey thanks Rossluck,
I could not find the dunlop kit in the tile section.
I ended up finding some crommewell reinforcing bondage that's the linen stuff, and then bondall aquatite waterpoofing membrane. Got some treated structural pine, and will be using blueboard instead of villaboard as I have enough spare sheets to cover it all.
Hopefully that will do the job, the bondall aquatite product says it is exceeding Australian standard, so hopefully my job will exceed standard...lol
