Been done 100 times before
How to spend a couple of days and get into the good books with SWMBO. Anything for the Grandkids makes me a hero.
First image is a cheap 290mm pine plank from Bunnys - try and find a piece that isn't damaged
Second image is cut to lengths and sanded.
Third image is cut to shape, tennons and groves cut, and not shown the rebate for the seat.
Forth and fifth images the completed chair finished with Organoil and hand sanded up to 1200 grit. The different colours is the result of different lighting. The last is natural overcast light.
Nothing new, just some fun and many brownie points

In the words of Curly from City Slickers - "cuter'n spit" - I think you actually should go into the guiness book for actually finding a nice piece of Pinus Crappus ANYWHERE, let alone Bunnies! How'd ya cut that "C"?
Well done mateSteve

Steve,
One could make a career out of trying to find a good piece of pine at Bunnys. Twisted, knotted, scratched, chiped,......... I pulled every 290mm piece out to get just one reasonable piece. The "C" was created by first going into Photoshop and selecting a font and printing the character at the required size. From this I made a template in 3mm MDF - just to give the lungs a treat . Then used the router with a straight bit and template follower. Fiddly, but not difficult. I am happy with the finished chair. But a lot of effort for such poor timber. Grandkids and SWMBO do that to you
