    Default 4 Piece Door

Another project I made up a few months ago. Pulled down the old doors frames, being 80 years old it is somtimes easier to start again than strip the paint etc, and quicker to make up new frames and skirting. Was made out of second hand salvage yard Karri. Finished with Danish Oil.

A very nice looking and worthy addition to your house, Goldy. I'd love to read more on the joinery side of things for your doors - material thickness, joint types etc.

    Cheers,

    Justin.

The thickness of the doors is 27mm, for the joinery side of thing just used a Ogee profile door making bit, the hardest part was getting the profile on both sides. When making the vertical pieces cut the profile as usual and turn it over and did the other side, same as the raise panel also. The hardest bit was doing the cross pieces as could only use the Ogee pattern part of the bit, had to cut one side the turn it over and do the other side took a few goes to get a perfect fit.

Also does anyone know if there are bits on the market for doing this that cut a profile on both sides in one go?

    Goldy,

I'm thinking of making some doors like that. Did you use floating tenons in the joints?

    Hi Goldy,

Can I ask where you got the hardware for these doors? Also have you got any pics of the doors being assembled?

I'm lookig at replacing a Sliding door and this or french doors would be the thing to do it with.

I didn`t buy the componets for the door sorry got no idea where to get them. I replaces a small door that was there the people who owned the house before me filled it in for some stupid reason and has a self and a small 4 piece door there. I just reused the old parts.

I`ll try to explane what you need. Basicaly on the frame at the bottom is a fixed spigot point, a L shape bracket that can be adjust in or out, the bottom of the door sits in this bye a adjustable spigot for height.

For the top of the door there is a rail which if you look closely is hidden bye a strip of jarra. The top side of the door fits bye a adjustable nylon bracket and a pin in the top of the door. This is adjustable in the T slot for positioning.

The two middle doors follow the rail with a another T slot pin which has srings on it for moment.

Will try and get some more photo`s to explain it. Its all abit tricky but well worth the effort.

    Regards Goldy
